Lawyers at the service of wind power development

Juriste - H2air

To successfully carry out its projects, the wind farm developer must comply with a complex legislative and regulatory framework. From the foundation of H2air, it seemed essential to have such expertise within the company. Tamara Paquet, who participated in the creation of H2air in 2008, heads the legal department.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT ?

Being a corporate lawyer means playing a close role with our colleagues and with the people involved in the company's projects. We must adopt a middle position by reconciling the interests of the company and compliance with laws and regulations. We must maintain the distance necessary to properly advise our colleagues. Having your own legal department makes it possible to achieve the company's objectives by participating in the development of its strategy. Being a lawyer at H2air is an exciting job where we work daily to offer innovative solutions to enable the construction of wind farms.

WHAT DO YOUR MISSIONS CONSIST OF ?

We support our colleagues from the early development phases of wind farms through to their operation. To do this, we are familiar with several branches of law such as land law, company law, town planning law and environmental law.The legal department is also called upon to provide its expertise when financing or selling parks. We have developed relationships of trust with specialists in wind law such as the law firm LPA-CGR, which helps us throughout the projects. We also have the support of the French notary Maître Demay, who carries out the necessary deeds for the construction and operation of the wind farms.Seeing the wind turbines turn is a source of pride for us. We then have the feeling of having brought our stone to the building.

HOW HAS YOUR PROFESSION EVOLVED ?

We are seeing legislative and regulatory inflation in wind power law and an increase in the complexity of the applicable regulations. We are particularly attentive to these developments. We are therefore actively involved in organizations promoting wind energy development such as France Energie Eolienne, the Franco-German Office for Energy Transition and the BWE.  Wind power projects breathe new life into the law by creating new themes that lawyers are taking up with energy!
